HI I am trying to learn my self how to connect a Dell R720 server with a LTO 7 tape library. Can someone advise and guide me with the best practice? because to begin with I have these questions.1.
Tape library Data Storage, Backup & Recovery. I am really hoping there is someone here who is familiar with the device that will help. Note I am NOT using a FreeAgent Go Drive in the socket on the device and we only need to access the drives that will be connected through the USB ports. I am not even able to see the device when I browse the Windows Network - tried from both Win 10 & 7 Pro. It just keeps giving me the message that it is unable to access the drive I am trying to Map. However even after I create the ceid text file on the USB drive and connect it to the device, I am still unable to reach the drive through Windows. So far I have been able to connect the device to the network and get an IP that I can ping. The task is to connect some USB external hard drives directly to a network switch so they can be shared with specific users in an office. However a solution is only good when it works and so far I have not been able to get this one to go the last mile. If there is another tool which can be used, that would be great too.Seagate has a history of making decent storage devices so when it was suggested that I go for the above device to solve a problem of connecting USB external drives to a LAN, I felt confident I was going with a good solution. If I can get this tool to display that, that would be great. Ultimately I just want an accurate measure of bandwidth utilization.
